206 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 1 & R

Target Audience

Workers and supervisors required to work with Hazardous Material in the workplace.

Learning Outcome

Participants will be able to interpret and apply WHMIS requirements as per the federal and provincial regulations.

Learning Objectives

  • Define hazardous material.
  • Explain the communication system.
  • List requirements of supplier and workplace labels.
  • Identify and explain each section of the MSDS
  • Identify and explain hazard symbols.
  • Explain and prepare a workplace label.
  • Explain requirements for worker education and training.
  • Explain requirements for WHMIS program review.

Delivery Method

The WHMIS workshop is divided into two parts:

  • Theory
  • Practical & Hands on

Participants will complete specific exercises to demonstrate knowledge and skills. Each participant will be evaluated by a written quiz and will receive a certificate of competency upon completion.

WHMIS 206-R – 1.5 hours
The review program is designed for workers who have already taken 206-1 previously. This session will expand on existing knowledge and will provide an overview of the components of the 206-1 program.
