108 Hazard Recognition and Control Instructional time – 6.5 hours

This course is ideal for Joint Health and safety committee members, new supervisors and small business owners.

The aim of this program is to help participants to:

  • Identify site specific hazards.
  • Apply effective strategies to control hazards in
    their workplace.

Learning Outcome

The outcome of this class will enable participants to:

  • Explain regulatory requirements relevant to the responsibilities of employers, supervisor, workers and others.
  • Identify workplace hazards and locate pertinent regulatory requirements.
  • Develop safe work procedures and corrective measures to control hazards.
  • Apply the process of identification, control and evaluation to eliminate hazards or reduce risk specific to your industry.

Delivery Method

The Hazard recognition and control class is divided into three parts:

  • Theory
  • Table top exercise &
  • Practical case study

Participants will participate doing a hazard assessment and produce a safe work practice specific to the workplace.

  • Hazard recognition
  • and one of the following topics:
  • Basic WHMIS
  • Lockout
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space
