104 Ergonomic Inspection Preventing and Investigating Musculoskeletal injury (MSI) Instructional time – 6.5 hours

Target Audience

This course is ideal for Joint Health and Safety committee members, worker health and safety representatives and corporate safety coordinators. This class may also be of interest to workers keen on gaining an understanding of MSI risk factors associated with their work.

Learning Objective

The aim of this program is to help participants to:

  • Provide participant with the knowledge and tools to prevent MSI through inspections and,
  • Conduct investigation into an MSI.

Learning Outcome

The outcome of this class will enable participants to:

  • Identify the key components of the ergonomic (MSI) requirements
  • Explain the 7 step (MSI) Process.
  • Explain 5 categories of risk factors associated with (MSI).
  • Explain 3 main types of risk control identified in risk factors.
  • Use a checklist to identify and assess risk factors.
  • Determine ways to control identified risk factors.
  • Apply early treatment and intervention principles.
  • Investigate incidents of (MSI) to prevent recurrence.

Delivery Method

The Ergonomic inspection class is divided into three parts:

  • Theory
  • Table top exercise &
  • Practical inspection
    Participants will participate in inspecting and proposing mitigation for MSI risk factors within their workplace.
